Travel Food Blog - Prague

Writer's picture: Martina Martina

Prague!! What a beautiful place that I highly recommend visiting! Especially if you are in Europe and can easily get there by train or bus. Prague is also very vegan & gluten free friendly! In this post, I will be talking about the places I went to eat, all are vegan and some are gluten free too!

Forky’s (GF/V)

Forky’s amazing! We ate there three times from how good it was! 100% vegan and definitely gluten free friendly! Highly Highly recommend!!

  • Sushi bowl (GF/V) - If you are a fan of sushi, you are going to love this!

Sushi rice, sesame oil & shoyu marinated tofu, wakame, daikon, cucumber, pickled ginger, sesame seed, spring onion

  • Kimchi bowl (GF/V) - If you can't take spice, this one might not be for you, otherwise, definitely one to try!

Jasmine rice, kimchi, sesame oil, sesame seed, wakame, scallions

  • Beyond Burger (V) - Best beyond burger I have had so far without a doubt! Plus the dips are delicious!

Beyond burger patty with ketchup, pickles, red onion, an amazing sauce within 2 buns. Served with a mix of regular and sweet potato fries.

I had most of my meals with their jasmine Kombucha!

Herbivore (GF/V)

Herbivore is a cute cafe where you can go eat a meal, have a drink, some dessert, or buy vegan/gluten free produce.

Their lunch is buffet style where the plate is weighed to determine the cost. I had a mix of rice, lentil curry, veggies and hummus. There was also naan bread (not gluten free) and soup options. To drink I had a soy matcha latte! The food and drinks were very tasty, highly recommend!

Manifesto Market (GF/V)

Manifesto market is an area made of many different food and drink stands. It has loads of seating areas and is very aesthetically pleasing; a perfect spot to come together with friends and family for some good food! I tried food from two different stands and a cocktail. Bring your card as they do not accept cash.

  • Fancy Fries (GF/V)

Here I had the original fries with their vegan sauce. The fries were the perfect size, crispy while still soft in the middle and salted perfectly. The sauce tasted like it was made with veganaise and some other sauce. Definitely a must try!

  • Poke bowl (GF/V)

I am a huge fan of sushi and poke bowls, so I was very excited to try their Panda bowl! This was the only vegan pre-made bowl since it had tofu as the meat. Other locations allow you to pick and mix toppings, but this one only allowed you to pick between the pre-made ones. The panda bowl includes: sushi rice, tofu, edamame, carrot, cucumber, onion, teriyaki sauce. It filled me up and tasted amazing!

To drink I had a pink gin and tonic with strawberry and coconut!

Vegan’s Prague (GF/V)

If you are by the Prague Castle and want a good vegan and gluten free meal, Vegan's Prague is the one! Vegan's Prague is definitely on the pricier side, so if that is an issue, there are other places with some vegan options, but maybe not gluten free as well.

I had a gluten free burger made of vegetable and tofu without buns placed on top of a potato gratin. I also had berry lemonade. Definitely a fancier dish, but 100% worth it!

Electric caffe (GF/V)

We only came here for a late lunch/snack so we did not try the main meals but they had many Vegan and gluten free options such as curry, burgers and even smoothie bowls for breakfast.

We had the sweet potato fries with coconut-cilantro sauce and the vegetable crisps. I also had an oat matcha latte. These dishes were very tasty, so I presume the other ones would be too.

Happy Bean bistro (GF/V)

This bistro was incredibly cute with a warm and welcoming feel to it! Again, this is another place we came to just for a snack, but if we had known about it sooner, we would have definitely gone for a meal! They had many different vegan and gluten free items including burgers, nachos, wraps, curry and salads. They also had many desserts!

I had a raw chocolate dessert and a coffee. Whether you have a sweet tooth or want a good meal, I highly recommend this place!

Donut shop (V)

If you are a major donut fan like me, you will appreciate this place for sure. Not only is the vibe of the store extremely cute and filled with plants, but they sell vegan donuts! Unfortunately at the time I could not have one, but I went in to check for you lovely readers! Definitely go give it a try, I know I want to next time!

Sweet Dreams (V)

A very popular dessert in Prague is called a Trdelnik, shown above in the photo. As you walk around you will see many stalls selling them and hundreds of people diving into this extremely sweet and heavenly food. Although most of them are not vegan, there is a place that saves you from eyeing everyone else's as they pass by. Sweet dreams next to Charles Bridge makes their pastry vegan! The fillings that are vegan are: original, jam or apple & raisin without cream.

Life House Healthy Food Bistro (GF/V)

This place is a small shop with a variety of health foods including, smoothies, juices, avocado toast, spring rolls and soft serve. I had the vegan chocolate soft serve topped with coconut shreds, strawberries, and hazelnuts. To create no waste, I recommend bringing your own container and spoon, and if you are getting a drink, then also a reusable cup and straw.

Coco van (GF/V)

This Van is parked right by the river on a small island filled with trees and grass, perfect for a sunny day. There are seats surrounding the van and also a tipi! I had the fizzy lavender lemonade that had coconut shreds as well as chia seeds inside. This was something I had never had before, but I enjoyed very much! To create not waste, bring your own cup and straw!

Boat restaurant (GF/V)

So I don't actually remember the name of this place, but it was on the same island as coco van near the river. This restaurant is on a boat that serves drinks and food. It is gorgeous during sunset as you sit there by the river watching the paddle boats go by, as the place plays live music/DJ. They have a selection of alcoholic/ non-alcoholic drinks and quite a bit of tapas style food. These include salads, an eggplant and tomatoe dish, deep fried jalapeños and naan bread. Bring your card as they do not accept cash.

You don't always have to eat out in Prague (even though it is relatively cheap compared to many places), as buying food at the supermarket and cooking it yourself is both a cheaper option and still filled with both vegan and gluten free foods.

Hope you enjoyed this post! It is a bit different to my usual ones, but I thought I would share some food places incase any of you go to Prague. Next post will be a summer update!
